New Windows 10 Insider Preview features

Here are some recent highlights, including the build number where they first appeared.2 Go to the Windows Insider blog for more details on all the latest Insider Preview builds for both PC and Mobile.3

  • View Mixed Reality. Insiders who are previewing the View 3D app (in the latest Skip Ahead preview) with View Mixed Reality enabled can take any creation from Paint 3D and see it come to life. (Build 16273)
  • Eye Control (Beta). Eye Control makes Windows 10 more accessible by empowering people with disabilities to operate an on-screen mouse, keyboard, and text-to-speech experience using only their eyes.4 (Build 16257)
  • An updated look for Microsoft Edge. The use of Acrylic material provides depth and transparency to the tab bar and other controls. We've also improved button animations to feel more responsive and delightful. (Build 16257)
  • Support for 3D in Office apps. Windows Insiders who are also Office Insiders will be able to incorporate 3D objects in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Easily insert a 3D object from the Remix 3D catalog or your PC, change its perspective and use transitions like Morph in PowerPoint to create cinematic animations between slides to bring 3D objects in your presentations to life. (Build 16257)
  • Get web search results in Cortana without opening your browser. Instead of just a link to results, the Cortana pane will expand automatically, quickly showing you exactly what you need to know. It works with movies, celebrities, stock prices, weather, flight status — you name it! If Cortana doesn't have a quick answer for your query, just click the arrow next to the relevant web suggestion to see what the web has for you.4 (Build 16251)
  • Switch to portrait mode orientation in Continuum. Are you a Windows Insider who's loving the convenience of Continuum by carrying your PC in your pocket? Based on your feedback, we're excited to introduce portrait mode support for Continuum starting with this build of Windows 10 Mobile. (Build 15235)

  • Introducing an easier way to try Windows 10 Enterprise Preview features. Getting great feedback from our Commercial customers is a high priority, but we know that it can take time and resources to deploy. To simplify the process for evaluating enterprise workflow, we’ve created Windows Insider Lab for Enterprise. Our virtual corporation, Olympia Corp., gives you a fast, easy way to experience Windows 10 in the modern managed workplace environment making use of the latest Windows 10 flights, Office 365, and Intune management capabilities. Foremost among our goals with Olympia is helping our commercial customers get ready for the GDPR regulations that come into effect in May 2018. Olympia is an opportunity to both demonstrate our readiness but also enable enterprise customers to prepare and ensure their own readiness. The Olympia Corp experience is an easy-to-access way to demonstrate and listen to your feedback on our upcoming Privacy and Security initiatives. Along the way we will enable you to explore cool, new Enterprise features such as Windows Information Protection (WIP), Windows Defender Application Guard (WDAG), Host Intrusion Prevention Systems (HIPs) – all running in a real-world enterprise environment. We are currently accepting a limited number of Windows Insiders to pilot the program. To request enrollment, simply complete this brief survey.
